Wii

Spore will have to wait.  I have bigger issues right now.

Last weekend I was out shopping, and I accidentally bought a Wii.  Oops!  I didn’t mean to. I only meant to buy a birthday present for my wife. (Which I did…a nice one by the way) I was ALMOST in the clear. I just had one more stop to make before I went home, and wouldn’t you know it…the store had a few Wii’s in stock.  I’ve been trying to track one down for months, but never got the timing right.  After a while I started to think “maybe it’s for the better”.  I’m saving up for a new house, family birthdays, etc.  I had put the Wii out of my head.  I did, until I found one.

Suddenly I found all sorts of ways to rationalize why it was okay to spend $250 on a toy:
1) It’s not for ME, It’s for the WHOLE family.  I didn’t get a PS3 or XBox 360.  I didn’t get Grand Theft Auto IV.  I got a system that has games that the kids will be able to play without being corrupted or traumatized.
2) My parents and in-laws like it.  It’s something fun to do when we have family over!  Family bowling tournaments at the kids birthday party’s go over much better than me hiding in ManTown playing Halo.
3) It’s healthy!  Wii Fit looks like a pretty cool idea.  Imagine, exercising while playing video games. Win!
4) It’s the most affordable of all the game consoles.  XBox 360 and PS3 cost $6,000,000 after you buy all the stuff, don’t they?
5) We have a copy of Guitar Hero for the radio station.  I can borrow it whenever we’re not using it for an event. Look honey, I just saved us $80!
6) It connects to my home network through WiFi.  No extra wires in the living room!
7) My sister has a Wii. I can play games with her over the net! When they are older, our kids can play each other too.  It’s bringing my family closer together!

So now I own a Wii. I don’t own any games for it yet, but that’s another blog for another time.  I already have some ideas
