High Falls Walkabout

Friday, August 1st, 2008

Sometimes I forget exactly how cool High Falls is.  It’s a little oasis in the middle of the city with open green space, awesome old architecture, and oh yeah..a big waterfall. I had a chance to take a walk around the neighborhood this morning and thought I would take some pictures to share with you.

Lets begin!

Stone Temple Pilots

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

A few of us wound up going to the Stone temple Pilots show at CMAC last night.

We’d like to thank the ticket winners who failed to claim their prizes.

By the way…you’re silly.

We had mostly lawn seats, but at the last minute we scored a pair under the shell.  I never actually saw the shell seats.  Once I realized I was past the last wave of security, I simply walked to the barricade at the front of the stage.  Nobody seemed to mind so I hung out, watched the show, and snapped a few pictures for you. I didn’t have my good camera with me so you’ll have to settle for crappy cell phone pictures today.

Crue Fest at Darien Lake

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

Yesterday we hit the road and went to Darien Lake for a live broadcast from Crue Fest.  I always look forward to these road trips because they are always ridiculous.  Here are some of the pics I took of our adventure.

4 for Freedom complaint.

Monday, July 7th, 2008

I got to work this morning and started my week off with a negative.  If you were listening to The Buzz over the 4th of July weekend, you probably heard that we did a “4 for Freedom Weekend“.  It was just a fun way to do something different for the long holiday weekend.  It was a lot of work, but we did it as a special little gift for you, the listener.

Over the weekend I received a few calls and emails from people saying how much they were enjoying the feature as they hung out with their friends and family.  I was feeling pretty good about it. I was happy that we put in the extra effort to make it happen…then I got an email from my boss. It was a complaint that someone had sent to him, and he forwarded it to me. Here it is:

Subject: 4play bands

How can you not play 4 from Ted Nugent. You claim you play music from the founding fathers of rock and roll, and as Mr.Nugent was celebrating his 6000th concert in Detroit Michigan, your station failed to play even 1 song from him. His song Lovejacker from the Spirit of the Wild CD,is amazing.I am a big fan of your station but lately I am becoming more and more disgusted.Thank You for your time.

Jim M.

“Disgusted”?  Really?  That’s kinda strong don’t ya think?

Well Jim, I’m sorry we let you down sir.  I hope it didn’t ruin your weekend.

The silver lining in this little cloud of negativity? Uncle Ted would be proud that you spoke your mind the way you did.  YOU sir are a True Amurican!

Happy 4th of July

This place is a ghost town. Everyone has checked out for the long weekend ahead.

Those of us that are still here are OBVIOUSLY hard at work. Ahem.
