It’s not very often that I send you to another radio station’s website. Today, I have good reason.  If you think it was windy around here last night, imagine the wind being so strong that your ceiling fan ended up on the OUTSIDE of your house.  My friend Newman is on our sister station WBEE.  He’s a big part of his family’s business down on the coast of Texas in the Gulf of Mexico.  You may have seen that area on the news lately?

He does the show from his house every morning, and then works at the family business the rest of the day.  Both his home and their business were over run by the tidal surge and high winds.  He lost everything.  He’s safe, but he keeps finding his belongings a block away from where they were before.

Newman did a great job documenting the effects of the storm. He has videos and pictures of before and after Hurricane Ike came through his house. There is some great audio there as well.  He even ended up on Channel 8 (video) and Channel 10 (video).

The destruction of his house and business are heart breaking.  At least he’s alright.  Our thoughts are with ya buddy.
